Moblogging & the Web2.0 Expo
Piggybacking on the Philippine moblogging discussions by Marc, Yuga & Jayvee, check out this video about text messaging.
I think before moblogging, we need more people using their mobile devices to do basic things like surf the web. At the Web2.0 Expo yesterday, I estimate about 2/10 (being generous) of the products and discussions were about mobility. The focus was clearly Enterprise2.0.
Quick hits
Nokia had a big booth dedicated to the Nokia n800. I tested it and it was awesome. At $379, it’s a bit too high. I think $299 or $250 would be better.
MySay is like Twitter but with voice. I think microPodcasting could revitalize podcasting in general.
I had a conversation with the CEO of AppVoyage after the demo of his browser plugin. Basically, you go on your desktop browser and select what parts of a site you want available on your mobile device. It works with banking sites and other web based apps. Looks like a promising solution until mobile devices are able to browse any site regardless of the backend.
The coolest demo was ZCubes. It’s basically a mashup of netvibes, online photo editor, browser within a browser….it’s a bunch of things. Check it out.
WordpressMobile is a great plugin to make your Wordpress blog mobile compatible. What’s great about it is that it also enables moblogging and supports monetizing by Admob. I suggest everyone install this plugin. For a demo, check out PinoyNewMedia.com on your mobile device.
